SUSTAIN
Clear Survey's business model was developed from the ground up to have the smallest possible footprint. We operate to high moral and ethical standards and treat people and resources with respect.
We believe we can have an overall positive impact by operating in a sustainable way and helping our clients improve their buildings to reduce their carbon footprints by making informed, affordable choices about how they heat and insulate their homes.
A SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS MODEL
SUSTAINABLE HOMES FOR OUR CLIENTS
We currently only use electric vehicles charged with 100% renewable energy to attend your property and undertake all our business activities.
We have a repair not renew policy, so when technology fails, we strive to find suitable repair methods and aim to only purchase technology that can be repaired to reduce obsolescence.
We generate very low volumes of waste and what little waste we produce is recycled.
We buy only what is essential to sustain the business and avoid all non essential products, services and purchases.
We commit to giving away 1% of our income (that's income, not profits) to charitable causes indefinitely. Currently we are supporting MSF to get urgent medical assistance to those in crisis around the world, in their hour of greatest need.
We design and specify sustainable heating, hot water and energy systems for normal homes. We understand the challenges and limitations of sustainable energy systems such as Solar PV, Solar Thermal and Air Source Heat Pumps.
We undertake Sustainable Heating Assessments to ensure your sustainable heating and hot water system will function correctly, be comfortable to live with and not cost a disproportionate amount to run.
We assist clients in selecting the right details and insulation choices for their building to ensure high performance, heat retention and low embodied carbon.
We supervise projects to ensure correct installation and application of insulation and sustainable heating measures to ensure the real world performance of these measures matches the design intentions, making your home comfortable and affordable.
Meet The Surveyor
Ben Clear
Ben Clear has been in the building industry all his working life. His building company CRB Contractors was founded by his father in 1979 and Ben took over the running of the company in 2005 after achieving a first class honours degree punctuated by summers spent working 'on the tools'. Ben trained as a surveyor alongside his career in managing large building projects.
A recognised Master Builder, Ben was a founding member of the National Standards Committee for the Federation of Master Builders. He sat on committee for ten years, advising on disputes and technical issues.
Ben has a high level of technical expertise but is also an experienced developer and designer, having bought, improved and sold multiple properties over many years. Importantly he knows how to quickly and accurately provide costs and identify whether a property or a project is worthwhile of your attention and your finances.
During his 18 years at the helm of CRB Contractors, Ben managed large teams and projects from inception to completion so he has an intimate knowledge of how contractors work and their costs. In surveying, these skills combine to produce an almost unique advantage.
Ben lives in Seaford, East Sussex with his wife Aimee and daughters, Evie, Ruby and Rosa.
Ben adds "It's important to me to love what you do. I enjoy the detective style work required to establish the root cause of defects in buildings and I relish the problem solving and pragmatism that building projects demand. Most of all I enjoy the important relationships that underpin our projects. I strive to always understand my client's hopes and wishes and I believe this is pivotal in offering people both what they need and what they want from their homes"
