Protect Your Property And Your Health With Our Damp Survey

Damp in a property can lead to more than just cosmetic damage. Depending on the cause and severity, it can affect your health, damage the structure of the building, and result in expensive repairs if left untreated.

We’re experts at identifying the type and cause of your damp problems. Once our damp survey has identified the cause, we can recommend the right course of action. Sometimes, this is simply a change of lifestyle habits. Other times, repairs and damp prevention works are needed.

Some damp specialists offer a free damp survey. However, they’re not independent surveyors. Therefore, they may only recommend services they can offer. Which can mean the problem isn’t properly addressed and the damp soon comes back.

We’re different. We charge a small fee to cover the time of doing your damp survey. But our recommendations cover the full spectrum of possible repairs and prevention. We do not gain from advising you to carry out larger work than is needed. Our advice is genuine and unbiased.

Our damp survey inspection will assess the affected areas and causes. We’ll provide you with a detailed report that:

  • Outlines the defects and affected areas
  • Identifies the causes
  • Advice for preventative measures
  • Our recommendations for repair

Our Equipment

We use a combination of modern detection methods, such as depth protimeters and thermal imaging cameras. This helps us to fully understand the causes behind the damp. We combine this with our experience to best determine the root causes, so that repairs can be targeted and cost-effective.

Identifying Different Types Of Damp

We understand the differences between types of damp. Penetrating damp, descending damp, condensation and salt-infiltrated plaster can all appear the same during a visual inspection. Our damp survey collects all the evidence that is crucial to a correct diagnosis.

Low Costs Options First

We use investigative techniques and experience to provide targeted, affordable solutions. We prioritise in terms of cost and effectiveness. Ensuring low-tech, low-cost solutions are not ignored in favour of costly, blanket approach damp proofing. We’ll never advise you to spend more than you need to.

We Take Time To Listen And Explain

A lot of damp problems are a result of people’s lifestyle. Not ventilating the property adequately, not using the extractor fan in the bathroom, or adding excess moisture by drying clothes inside, for example. It’s important that we take our time to chat with you/ the occupants. We’ll discuss these aggravating factors and explain how living habits can affect moisture in the property.

We See The Big Picture

We’re not just knowledgeable about damp, but buildings too. Our expertise in building work allows us to see the bigger picture and offer advice that a damp proofing specialist cannot. They can often focus on how to prevent the damp from being visible on the inside of the property. Neglecting the root cause of it.

Our surveying and building expertise allow our damp survey to go beyond the scope of a damp specialist. In the picture above, roofing defects are causing damp in the walls below. This can be addressed with simple roof repairs. No stripping plaster and causing disruption inside.

We regularly work with reputable contractors who we are happy to recommend. Saving you the time of calling around and the risk of unscrupulous businesses. We do not receive any incentive from the contractors we recommend.

Fixed Price Damp Survey

We offer our damp survey at a fixed price of £520. We attend the property, assess the issues, discuss the findings with the occupants and draw up detailed written recommendations. You can then provide our report to a competent contractor for a quote.
