It’s important to select someone who has the experience and ability to complete your project. As well as someone you are able to have a good working relationship with. Afterall, you may be working together for months, or even years.
Selecting the right builder for your project alone can be extremely difficult. We can provide our knowledge and expertise to ensure you pick the team that make your project the pleasure it should be.
Referrals are great, but the friends and family who offer them may have used the nominated contractor for a different type of project. Contractors will often describe themselves as general builders. But in truth, nearly all have specialisms and strengths that make them better suited to particular types of projects. It’s unlikely that this is clear in the way they present themselves online or in person.
We have worked with many contractors for many years. We know which ones we trust and value enough to recommend to you. We have no financial ties and never accept a commission for a referral. So, we can independently make suggestions for contractors who have the right competencies for your project.
We know their strengths and their weaknesses, so we can target our referrals accordingly. We will make any introductions you request from our suggested panel of contractors, so that you can meet them, check out their references and even view their previous or ongoing projects.
As mentioned above, connecting with your contractor on a personal level is important. We highly recommend an informal interview process. Meet for a chat that’s less about the project and more of a chance to see if you like the attitude, drive and personality of the team you will need to work with during your project.
We do not accept commission or favour from the people and businesses we recommend, we undertake to make these independent referrals because we know the immense benefits good contractors bring to our clients and to us.
When you appoint Clear Surveys to undertake the Contract Stage of your project, we will also check the nominated Contractor’s insurances. We ensure they have in-date policies that specifically cover them for the types of works the Schedule of Works describes.
Worryingly, a significant proportion of pre-contract insurance checks we make on businesses we don’t already know, show that the contractors are often underinsured for the works they are already undertaking, let alone the project they are tendering for.
