The Stages and Costs Of A Project

There are a number of stages to a building project. Not just the physical build itself. The admin, consents and red tape that goes on in the background all has to be managed. This is often the part that people don’t think about. Unsurprisingly, seeing the project come together in the flesh is far more exciting.

If you’re thinking of managing the project yourself, you need to ask yourself these questions:

• Do you know what plans you need?
• Does your project require planning permission?
• Will building regulations inspections be needed?
• At what point do you need to instruct a structural engineer?
• Is your contractor’s quote fair and reasonable?
• How would you handle a dispute with your contractor?

Without these processes being done right, and at the right time, your project can easily fall behind schedule and over budget. It could even mean work has to stop, or completed work having to be taken down and done again.

Every building project is different. And each is managed differently. Once we’ve spoken with you and we fully understand your project, we can provide you with a fee quote. This service is free of charge. It will tell you what your project will require and how much each stage of it will be.

Design Stage: From £750 to £5000
Budgeting: From £250 to £500
Planning Permission: £1500 to £4500
Technical Design: From £600 to £3500
Building Regulations: From £300 to £2500
Schedule of Works: From £500 to £3000
Tender Procurement & Analysis: From £150 to £600
Contract Administration: From £1000 to £2000 per month

The ‘From’ prices reflect a small and simple project. Perhaps with a budget under £45,000.

The ‘To’ costs reflect the larger domestic projects, with a budget up to £500,000.

We undertake domestic building projects all of sizes and have the capabilities to support projects of up to circa £2m.
